McDonnell F2H-3 Banshee USN (1/32 Scale)

McDonnell F2H-3 Banshee

The first production F2H-3 Banshee flew on the 29 of March, 1952. The aircraft was designed to be a major upgrade from the F2H-2 series Banshee. Major Improvements included a double increase in internal fuel capacity, a lengthened fuselage, a redesigned tailplane, and an all-weather radar. These among other improvements made the F2H-3 Banshee the US Navy’s first all-weather fighter. The aircraft arrived into fleet service too late to operate in the Korean War, and the aircraft was already steadily becoming obsolete, principally due to newer McDonnell aircraft, such as the F3H Demon. Many F2H-3s thus ended up in reserve duty back in the United States. A number of these aircraft were also sold to the Royal Canadian Navy, becoming the first exported McDonnell aircraft. Model includes 12 pages of parts, and 25 pages of detailed instructions, including 22 diagrams. Kit includes detailed interior, landing gear, engines, and optional armament.
